Currywurst Museum opens, Pro-vegan demonstrators protest

On August 15, the Currywurst Museum, opened with great fan far–and controversy. Read my review of the museum, dedicated to the city’s beloved snack food, on EuroCheapo.

Say hello to the U55

Checking out the sights in Berlin’s Regierungsviertel (government quarter) just got easier. Berlin debuted its newest and shortest U-bahn line on August 8. The three-stop U55 line, designed with tourists and politicos in mind, shuttles between the Hauptbahnhof (central train station) and the Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate), with a stop at the Bundestag (Parliament) in between. (The line will eventually reach Alexanderplatz).Berlin’s transportation system, the BVG, also changed the name of the S-bahn station at the base of Pariser Platz (where the Brandenburger Gate stands) from “Unter den Linden” to “Brandenburger Tor”.
